How GeoCricket works
The basics
- Six new cricket questions everyday. Takes 6 mins to play.
- Questions will be for Tests Cricket, ODIs, T20s and World Cups.
- For each cricket question, tap the spot on the map where you believe it happened.
- The nearer your tap lands to the true spot, the bigger your score.
- Fresh questions arrive daily at midnight UTC.
- Everyone plays the same six questions on the same day, so totals are directly comparable.
How to play
- 1 Question = 1 Ball.
- 6 Questions = 6 Balls = 1 Over.
- Game is for 1 Over each day.
- How your runs are scored
- How far your tap lands from the true spot decides your runs:
- ≤100 km, 6 runs.
- ≤400 km, 4 runs.
- ≤800 km, 3 runs.
- ≤1,600 km, 2 runs.
- ≤3,200 km, 1 run.
- Beyond 3,200 km, 0 runs.
- Calculated distances are straight-line approximate values, rounded to the nearest kilometre.
- Counting your over
- Only runs are counted. There are no outs.
- Questions 1–2 easy, 3–4 medium, 5–6 hard.
- The max you can score is: six sixes in six balls = 36 runs. That is the perfect over.
- Bonus, sharing and streak
- Once you complete all questions, you get a bonus 10x multiplier.
- Your runs x 10 = Final score. You can share your score card with your friends and challenge them.
- Play daily to maintain your streak.
Colours and dots
- The dot colour shows what that ball scored.
- Green - 6 runs
- Purple - 4 runs
- Yellow - 3 runs
- Orange - 2 runs
- Blue - 1 run
- Grey - No runs
Streaks
- Your streak tracks consecutive 7 days played.
- Miss a day and it drops back to zero.
The leaderboard
- You see the day's top 50 players.
- Your own row stays pinned at the top even when you sit outside the top 50.
- When two players would share a name, the second gets a number on the end (for example Mark, Mark2).
Your profile
- Open your profile in menu for a 7-day played details of your daily totals.
- Your profile shows total games played, best score, streak and last 7 days played games.
Tips
- Pinch to zoom and drag to pan around the map.
- A single tap locks in your guess. There is no submit button.
- Changed your mind mid-tap? Drag a little before lifting your finger. Tiny slides count as a pan, not a guess.
- Refresh halfway through if you must. Your round is saved.
Inspiration
- GeoCricket is heavily inspired by MapTap, a daily geography game we love. Go play it too.
